Dr Russell Govender is a specialist Spine Surgeon in Cape Town offering a wide range of spine surgery procedures, as well as non-surgical treatment of spinal conditions where possible.

Dr Russell Govender has considerable experience in Spine Trauma and Acute Spinal Cord Injury, Degenerative and Infective Conditions of the Cervical, Thoracic and Lumbar Spine. 

He completed his medical undergraduate degree at The University of the Witwatersrand.  Russell then spent 5 years working in Kwa-Zulu Natal, focusing mainly on Orthopaedic Surgery.  He then moved to Cape Town where he completed his Orthopaedic specialisation training at The University of Cape Town.  It was during this time that his interest in the field of Spinal Surgery grew.  Following his specialisation, Russell was awarded the AOSpine Fellowship, where he spent a year furthering his knowledge and surgical experience in the field of Spinal Surgery.  During this time he was awarded the BASS (British Association of Spinal Surgeons) International Travelling Fellowship which he spent visiting prominent Spine Units around the UK.
